Mayor's Thames Festival 2011
In 2011 We Make London hosted the first area dedicated to showcasing the work of London based designers at the immensely popular Mayor's Thames Festival. The Festival is London’s largest outdoor arts festival and one of the most spectacular, feel-good London events of the year. It is a celebration of London and the River Thames, one that is free and open to all. It is always an honour for us to take part in one of London's most exciting free outdoor festivals.
We Make London formed part of The Craft Trail which was a brand new concept for the Thames Festival. It brought together some of London's most loved craft organisations including Craft Guerrilla , Sannapanda and Friends, Of Cabbages and Kings, Crafty Fox Market, and or course ourselves and was sponsored by Etsy and School of Creative Start ups.
The aim of the Craft Trail was to encourage the visitors of the Thames Festival to buy locally sourced, handmade goods. Over 800,000 people visited the festival which stretches along the banks of the Thames and includes a full and varied programme of activities. Each collective had their own area along the route where they ran a craft market alongside workshop and arts activities.
