Jan Horrox Textiles
Jan Horrox trained at Norwich Art School and Walthamstow Art School (now East London University) in 1970 graduating in Fashion/Textiles.In the 1970’s Jan launched her own label in Fashion Knitwear – Jan Horrox Knitwear - which sold internationally for over 20 years. The company regularly exhibited at Fashion Week in London, the New York Pret and many other UK shows, and was stocked by many UK independent retailersIn 1894 Jan opened her own shop in Belsize Park; North London called 'Softwear'. This was a magical emporium selling all things knitted and for knitting – many wonderful yarns, patterns, garments, sculptures and hangings.Jan has also worked with advertising, film and TV costumes, the highlight of which was designing the knitwear for Ewan McGregor in 'Trainspotting'. There was also much varied freelance work for other fashion designers. Jan has sold her work from a stall in Camden lock in the 70's, Covent Garden Apple Market in the 80's and 90's.Jan taught final year fashion students at Somerset College of Art for several years in the 1980’s and now teaches private workshops in macine knitting, art doll making and other decoartive textiles.Jan Horrox knitwear is now available online and from various retail shows.
Machine Knitwear which is lightly felted - a range of accessories including fingerless gloves, mittens, snoods, scarves, bags, T-cosies and other homewares. These are all made from a Scottish Lambswool and hand made by myself.Also new this year a collection of animal trophy heads made from harris tweed and wool felt. I also supply kits for these.
